Welcome to EcoHub℠

We are proud to present the launch efforts to re-purpose Square One Office Plaza into a professional, Green Campus, which will also be serving as the community anchor for a larger masterplan of a startup district also known as "The Hub".

Phase One of this effort is the opening of Suite 170, a brand new co-working/ shared office space for green businesses and small non-profits:

Brought to you by EcoHub, Inc., and located at the Square One Building in Kerny Mesa, co-working offers community to solo-workers and creates culture. The concept is simple: A group of like-minded self-starters share office space and end the social isolation that comes from working at home (see the Youtube videos on the right side bar for more examples). Currently, the office is not scheduled to open until the first week of March 2010, however we are taking early reservations for Founding Members ($50 non-refundable deposit) and after hour lectures, company launch events, and Meet-up/ trade groups ($40 non-refundable deposit). For more information or to place your deposit today, please call 1-888-277-6304 x 706 or dial "0" to leave a message, and a representative will contact you shortly. This is the office space of choice for small environmental ventures.

Or place your $50 (Non-Refundable) deposit today and "get included in our first press release" (Thursday, February 25th, 2010).

Or place your $40 (Non-Refundable) deposit today for an after hours lecture, company launch event, and/ or Meet-up/ trade group meeting.

The Opportunity

Wi-Fi, laptops and cell phones (especially iPhones and iPads) make it possible to work from just about anywhere these days. They've helped people leave the office and work from the comfort of their living rooms or corner coffee shops.

But now, an increasing number of green leaders are looking for something in between.

It's About Community, Stupid

It looks like any other typical start-up office environment: There are two conference rooms, a main room with tables pushed together and a series of private desks. Now don't be fooled by the stunning design features by local design star and LEED AP, Kristianne Watts, but this space is the fruit of two movements that have cross pollinated at the right time and for all the right reasons.

Coworking is a nationwide phenomenon which caters to professionals without office space and at times - working from home may seem like the pinnacle of professional convenience. But it can also be a double-edged sword for creative types who crave stimulation and social contact. So we took notice of all these other spaces around the world (see the Youtube videos on the right side bar), especially when American Public Media reporter Alex Goldmark looked into one solution for the work-at-home blues called "Co-working" for Marketplace back on May 18th, 2008.

Members are expected to "pitch in" for aid new members and visitors and together build real community and create real culture.

"It's real simple," says Will Griffith, an owner in EcoHub.

And, to sweeten the deal of membership, we've setup a "Groupsite" that empower members to come together and make things happen anywhere. Powered by Groupsite.com, the EcoHub member-site combines the most useful features of traditional websites, blogs, collaboration software and social networks.

This site is a "daily destination" that provides  members of EcoHub with a shared calendar, discussion forums, member profiles, photo gallery, file storage and more. We encourage you to upload your photo, complete your profile and participate!
